HELLO FROM
LOIS
Faith - Family - Farm
Hello everyone! As some of you may know, my husband and I live on a serene dirt road in a delightful rural community. For nearly 40 years, our family has passionately crafted a wide variety of home and personal care products. Our beloved old farmhouse is filled with the comforting sounds of crackling firelight, serenading crickets, chirping frogs and the early morning calls of roosters. The distant rumble of tractors working the fields and the late-night hum of combines during harvest serve as reminders of the hard-working farmers around us.
With that backdrop, I'm excited to share a new and flavorful adventure with you all!
At 70, I'm thrilled to embrace a new chapter centered around my "once upon a time" love of baking. My journey began with a humble start as a bakery apprentice at a large grocery chain, where I learned the art of baking and cake decorating.
As a mother of young children, baking was more than just a task; it was a joyful way to bring comfort and creativity into our home. It was such a fun time-sharing recipe and treats with neighbors. I particularly loved making bread, filling days with the aroma of freshly baked goodies. Homemade bread slathered with peanut butter quickly became an after-school favorite. As often happens life changed, my work changed and took me away from the kitchen. Recently my love for baking took on a new dimension when I became interested in the health benefits of sourdough, leading me to take a class with a talented local baker.
Like all beginnings, mine has not been without its mishaps. There have been plenty of flat loaves, gummy textures, and burnt bottoms, but every failure has been a lesson in resilience. Sourdough Papa has endured them all! There would not be a Sourdough Nana without Sourdough Papa!
I admire micro bakers who passionately hone their craft while staying home to nurture their children - Just like I had the privilege of doing. This experience sparked a realization: there are many grandmothers and "nanas" out there who might benefit from finding a new purpose and community.
In this spirit, I want to inspire those who may be missing the chaos of racing schedules and feel unseen or irrelevant to reconnect. Together, we can celebrate the art of baking, share our stories, our successes and failures to create warm, new joyful memories. Let's learn together. join me in this delightful journey, where every loaf not only nourishes our bodies but also our spirits!
